The Review:-
As this series goes on I can honestly say that this one is one of the best books in the series. Though it continues the perspective of all involved, I love how we get a bit more of those who are in reality and their struggles as they’re trying to reach their goals as well.
We follow a bit more on the story of Ezra and Dennis and their struggle trying to get to Foo. I think the book reflects a lot of the emotions that are expressed in this arc. Ezra is livid about most things and takes it out on the people around him. Though his emotions go out of whack and he is nice to Denis sometimes but he is primarily sour.
I love how Skye showed the dynamic between the two, that though Ezra is mean to Denis, he does try to show a bit of backbone, and ultimately you can see that they both are concerned for the other. I think it was an awesome move to develop their characters in this way.
One of my favorite scenes is when they are trying to communicate with the President of the United States. Ezra clearly sees the President as a fool and doesn’t care much for his authority, while Denis tries to be a little bit more respectful.
In this book, Skye’s writing is a bit more humorous than the others he has written and while it is a nice addition to the book, there are some areas where he overdoes it a bit. It is a bit of a turn-off in some areas but I think that is because I am past the intended age group for the book. I recall when I was reading it in my later years that I thought the book was very funny and that the humor was not overdone at all. Maybe this is something that will have an acquired taste to those who read it.
We’ve given Leven Thumps and The Wrath of Ezra a rating of 8 out of 10. This book like the ones that preceded it was well written, a great read, and did well connecting the events with the other books.
